Conservative or sporty, it’s not until you’re forty
That you learn the how and why and the what and when
In the twenties and the thirties you want your love in large amounts

Luxman L-210 Story — Ritual III — Tweaking

Acara tweaking dibagi dua tahap.

Tahap I:

• Membersihkan seluruh komponen bergerak; yaitu seluruh switch & potentiometer, dengan degreaser cleaner merk Phillips. Cukup dengan menyemprot dari luar semua switch dan potentiometer, trus di pencet-pencet dan di putar-putar, dan hasilnya cukup memuaskan. Saklar dan potentiometer yang tadinya kalau di pencet atau di putar mengeluarkan bunyi kresek-kresek di loudspeaker; sekarang tidak lagi.
• Recap; yaitu mengganti semua capacitor electrolyte dan mylar. Yang mylar diganti dengan MKM, sedang yang electrolyte di ganti baru dengan merk Elna, Nichicon [gold] dan Panasonic [gold]. Beberapa capacitor menunggu kiriman dari Surabaya, karena di Batam tidak ada yang jual.
• Mem paralel semua electrolyte di jalur power supply dengan capacitor MKM 100n [330n untuk paralel capacitor electrolyte 10mF; power amplifier supply].

Uji dengar cukup memuaskan, meski source hanya menggunakan CD-ROM dari laptop Lenovo, maklum di Batam ini belum punya CD player [tapi perburuan berikutnya pasti mengancam si CD player].

• Uji dengar pertama muter lagunya Tompi – Selalu Denganmu;
  ________ hadirmu selalu akan kutunggu ________ cintamu selalu akan kurindu ________ dan tiada lagi batas ruang waktu ________ la la la __ la la la la ________
  [jadi inget Jogja ___ hiks hiks _ sniff sniff ___ kok suaranya kayak si snowy lagi tersedu]
• Uji dengar kedua muter lagunya Michael Bublé – Lost; [bener-bener suaranya los ____ he he he ____]
• Uji dengar ketiga muter lagunya Jamie Cullum – Singin’ in The Rain; [suaranya bener-bener warm & basah, kayak hujan beneran ____ lahh ____]

Hasilnya lumayan lah ____ aku ga bisa mengatakan seindah warna aslinya, karena belum pernah mendengarkan L-210 saat baru. Tapi si L-210 ini seharusnya cukup memenuhi syarat di kuping audiophile.

Tahap II:
Nantinya tweaking tahap ii terhadap si L-210 akan aku lakukan:

1. Ganti semua konektor/jack input dan terminal loudspeaker dengan yang baru.
2. Ganti semua transistornya dengan transistor generasi baru yang lebih tinggi bandwidthnya.

Tapi tahap ii dilakukan kapan-kapan. Sementara di puas-puasin dengerin yang ini dulu.

Sementara ini, biaya total tweaking sekitar seratus lima puluh ribu rupiah. Jadi harga nominal Integrated Amplifier Luxman L-210 ini sebesar tiga ratus tiga ribu rupiah saja.

Luxman L-210 Story — Ritual II — Data Collect

Melanjutkan acara persiapan mengisi liburan lebaran, maka perlu melakukan ritual kedua; yaitu mencari data skema Luxman L-210 untuk mengenali lebih dekat.

Dengan bantuan Simbah Google, manual dan skema tidak sulit ditemukan [internet memang menyenangkan].

Manual jadi satu group dengan L-190, L-200, L-210, L-220 dan L-230. Spesifikasi cukup mengagumkan:

• Frequency Response: 10Hz ~ 100kHz (+0dB, -1.5dB)
• S/N: phono MM 90dB, line 107 dB
• Sensitivity: phono MM 1.8mV, line 160mV
• Impedance: phono MM 50k, line 40k
• Tone Control: treble ±8dB (10kHz), bass ±8dB (100Hz)
• Loudness: ±8dB (100Hz, volume -30dB)
• Filter: high 7kHz (-6dB/oct), low 70Hz (-6dB/oct)

Bedanya:

• Power: 2×30w (L-190), 2×40w (L-200), 2×45w (L-210), 2×50w (L-220), 2×63w (L-230)
• Phono MC input (L-230)
• Speaker Selector (L-210, L-220, L-230)

___ dan skemanya ____ woww, circuit L-210 begitu indah,

• Phono Stage; standar dan sederhana, terdiri dari satu chip sebagai komponen aktif ditambah seonggok komponen pasif yang disusun seperti phono stage kebanyakan. Yang istimewa bagiku adalah chip yang digunakan; NJM2043DD, baru sekali ini aku ketemu bertatap muka secara langsung. [sulit dibedakan, chip ini memang istimewa atau aku yang kuper gak pernah ketemu dia].
• Line Stage; lebih sederhana lagi, terdiri dari beberapa switch, filter pasif dan potentiometer volume & balance control. Dan benar-benar pasif, tanpa komponen aktif; bila semua filter off, maka sinyal suara akan langsung terhubung ke potentiometer dan langsung ke input Power Amplifier.
• Tone Control; unik, tidak disusun di dalam signal path, tetapi dia tersusun di area feedback power amplifier.
• Power Amplifier; mengandung susunan komponen yang dipercaya meningkatkan mutu pengolahan suara:
1. Common Emiter Dual BJT; 2 transistor dalam satu pack, jadi kakinya ada lima. Dengan menggunakan transistor jenis ini, diharapkan penguatan arus akan sama persis antara transistor bagian inverting dan non-inverting.
2. Current Mirror; dipasang di area differential amplifier, diharapkan lebih meningkatkan keseimbangan aliran arus di antara 2 transistor differential.
3. Cascode; dipasang untuk memisahkan VAS agar tidak terhubung langsung dengan penguat arus; dan susunan ini dipercaya bisa meningkatkan penguatan pada frequency tinggi.
4. Constant Current Source; kalau diterjemahkan artinya Sumber Arus Konstan. Fungsinya? ____ lupa ____ tak carinya dulu, nti nek ketemu lu tak kasi tau ____.
5. Duo-Beta Circuit; khas nya si Luxman, susunan feedback yang terdiri dari 2 jalur terpisah dengan gain berbeda, untuk meningkatkan kestabilan di freq rendah.

Kalau dalam dunia network, bisa dikatakan amplifier Luxman L-210 ini menggunakan topology OSPF [Open Shortest Path First, ____ maksa ____], jadi bila semua filter off, loudness off, tone control off (defeat), maka akan tersusun: source [cd] – volume/balance – power amplifier – loudspeaker.

Luxman L-210 memang unik; seperti pada umumnya amplifier di era 80-an.
